Perhaps it can be, but in my experience it's not those who are well-read or well-spoken who use it in that way. I will literally continue using the word "literally" in its literal sense. Literally.
You didn't create a separate line for what the guy and girl said so it seemed like she said "I just got raped by that midterm guy". As in a guy involved in the midterm raped her.
I hate it when people use "literally" when they literally don't mean whatever they're saying literally. It should be reserved for when people want to emphasize that they are actually (or literally...) being literal.
literally can also be used to add extra emphasis, the more you know.
